Available Openings
DeWitt Public Schools offers a limited number of Schools of Choice seats in each grade level
The number of available seats varies annually based on classroom capacity
The Board of Education determines specific openings by grade level each April
Available slots will be published following the Board's decision
Selection Guidelines
If applications are fewer than available seats, all eligible students will be accepted
If applications exceed available seats, state law requires a random lottery selection
Priority is given to siblings of current Schools of Choice students, but not guaranteed. Any siblings of enrolled Schools of Choice students must complete a Schools of Choice application during the SOC application window to be considered for enrollment.
Students not selected through the lottery will be placed on a waiting list
Students with suspension (within two years) or expulsion may be ineligible per state law
Continuation of Enrollment
Once enrolled, students may continue at DeWitt without reapplying
If a student withdraws and enrolls in another district, they forfeit their spot and must reapply during the next application period
Siblings are not guaranteed enrollment but receive preference for available slots
Transportation
Transportation to and from our district will be the responsibility of the parent. Children must arrive in time to begin instructional activities at the start of the school day and must be picked up or have other arrangements once the school day has ended.
