Enrollment

To enroll in DeWitt Public Schools, you must reside within the district boundaries or be able to attend according to board policy. To confirm your address is in-District , use the Clinton County Property Search.

All students are enrolled at the Board of Education office located at 2957 W. Herbison Road. Look for Door #16, a separate entrance at the south end of the Middle School. Our office hours are Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:30pm.

In addition to the completed enrollment forms (found below), please bring the following required documentation:

  • Original Certified Birth Certificate with raised seal (original will be verified & a copy made for student file)

  • Two (2) proofs of Residency

  • Immunization Record, up-to-date

2021-2022 Kindergarten / Young 5 Enrollment Important Dates

FEBRUARY 1, 2021 - ONLINE PRE-REGISTER & ENROLLMENT PAPERWORK SUBMISSION BEGINS

Please complete the online PreRegistration Form for your child. You must also submit all enrollment forms and required documentation for your student to be officially enrolled. NOTE: INDICATING INTEREST IN THE YOUNG 5s PROGRAM DOES NOT GUARANTEE PLACEMENT IN THE PROGRAM.

FEBRUARY 1, 2021 - PARENT INFORMATION ONLINE VIDEO

Principal Emily Palmatier will present information about the Young 5s program and Kindergarten, including curriculum, via a Parent Information video. The video will be accessible on the Schavey Road website.

FRIDAY, APRIL 16 – ENROLLMENT FORMS DUE, including YOUNG 5 applications!

Submit enrollment forms and required documentation, in-person, at the Board of Education office. We are located at Door #16, a separate entrance at the south end of the Middle School. Offices are open Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm. If you are applying for the Young 5 program, be sure to complete the Young 5 Request form as well. NOTE: If preferred, curbside enrollment is available by appointment. Please call 517.668.3017 to schedule.

MONDAY, MAY 3 & TUESDAY, MAY 4 - YOUNG 5 APPLICANT SESSIONS. When enrolling, schedule an appointment for either a 4pm or 5pm session.


MAY – DATE/S TBD - HEARING & VISION SCREENING APPOINTMENTS

Hearing and vision screening is required for all incoming Kindergarten and Young 5 students. If your child needs a screening prior to attending school, we will be offering free screenings, by appointment, at Schavey Road Elementary. Schedule an appointment when enrolling.


MID-AUGUST – Teacher Placement letters will be mailed

AUGUST 30 & 31First Days of School, ½ days for Young 5s and Kindergarteners.

Permissions

The permission form listed below is required for each child attending DeWitt Public Schools and must be filled out each school year. This year the form also includes a COVID-19 Screening agreement.

For the health and safety of our students, the local public health department asks that students be screened for symptoms of COVID-19 before entering the school. The health department and the CDC do not recommend these screenings be done at the schools due to the interruption this would cause to your child’s education.

We ask that each parent/guardian perform student screening prior to sending their child to school, any school activities, or sports.
