Schools of Choice
Welcome to Award-winning DeWitt Public Schools! Information concerning the DeWitt Public Schools Schools of Choice Program can be found below.
The district's participation in the Schools of Choice Program is determined by the DeWitt Public Schools Board of Education each year.
On April 8, 2019, the Board of Education will meet to review and vote/approve the district's participation in Section 105 and 105 (c) Schools of Choice for the 2019-2020 school year. The Schools of Choice resolution will include limited openings for Kindergarten through 8th Grade for Section 105 - nonresident students residing within the Clinton County Regional Education Service Agency (CCRESA) or Section 105 (c) - nonresident students residing within a contiguous Intermediate School District of DeWitt Public Schools.
The Schools of Choice application is below on this website or at the Board of Education office. The 30-day window to submit an application for participation in the Schools of Choice program is only open for that specified period of time. The Schools of Choice applications must be submitted between 8:00 a.m., April 11, 2019, and 4:00 p.m., May 10, 2019. The number of openings for new students will be decided by the end of May when we should have a better idea of the number of students returning to DPS for the 2019-2020 school year. If more students apply than what there are openings for, a random drawing will be held.
When will I know if my child has been accepted to attend DeWitt Public Schools? Notifications will be mailed to families the second week of June.
Are siblings guaranteed enrollment in future years? Any siblings of enrolled Schools of Choice students , must complete a Schools of Choice application to be considered for enrollment. Siblings are given preference for available advertised slots, however, not guaranteed.
Who provides transportation? Transportation to and from our district will be the responsibility of the parent.
